The President of the 7th Conference of PUIC H.E. Dr. Marzuki Alie who is also the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia held a bilateral meeting with the Secretary General of OIC H.E. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu on February 20th 2012.
The meeting took place in Jakarta during the visit of Secretary General of OIC to attend the 1st Session OIC Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission (IPHRC). The PUIC President called on the OIC Secretary General to bond closer cooperation with the PUIC Secretary General in order to implement the programs and works of both organizations. The PUIC President also informed the OIC Secretary General on the important decisions adopted under the 7th PUIC Conference Resolutions and its Final Communique.
The Chairman of the Committee for Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation H.E. Dr. Hidayat Nur Wahid, who also attended the meeting, proposed to the OIC to attend the PUIC events and vice-versa. H.E. Dr. Hidayat Nur Wahid underlined several PUIC programs which require OIC’s support. One of the programs is the visit of a delegation of the Speakers of PUIC Member States to Gaza. The OIC Secretary General appreciated the PUIC programs and expressed his willingness to have  closer cooperation on these matters.
