Introduction

DATE OF ESTABLISHMENT

17 June 1999 (The Founding Conference of the PUIC held in Tehran, decided to establish the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) with the Permanent Headquarters in Tehran, Islamic Republic of Iran.) 

SECRETARY GENERAL

H.E. Cheikh Mouhamed Khouraichi Niass from Senegal is the Secretary General of the PUIC from 1st August, 20018. He was elected by the 13th PUIC Conference held In Tehran, Islamic Republic of Iran.

H.E. Prof. Dr. Mahmud Erol KILIC from Turkey was the second Secretary General who served two terms starting from 1st May, 2008 to 31st July, 2018.

H.E. Mr. Ibrahim Ahmed Auf was the first Secretary General of the PUIC. He served two terms from 1st March, 2000 to 30th April, 2008

OFFICIALS OF THE GENERAL SECRETARIAT OF THE PUIC

H.E. Ambassador Ali Asghar Mohammadi Sijani, is at present the Deputy Secretary General. He joined from 1st April, 2008. He has been reelected for second term starting from 1st April 2012, by the 14th PUIC General Committee, held in Palembang, Republic of Indonesia. The 13th PUIC Conference held in Tehran, Islamic Republic of Iran elected him again. He starts his new term from 1st April, 2018.

(H.E. Mr. Mohammad Peyrovi was the first PUIC Assistant Secretary General. He served two terms from March, 2001 to 31st March 2008.)

LEGAL DOCUMENT OF THE UNION

The Statute of the PUIC which was adopted by the Founding Conference held in Tehran on 15 to 17 June, 1999. The Statute was amended by the 2nd Extraordinary Session of the PUIC Conference held in Abu Dhabi on 19 January, 2011
