37th Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers, Dushanbe, Tajikistan on 18-20 May, 2010

In response to an invitation extended by OIC General Secretariat, the PUIC Secretary General accompanied by the Assistant Secretary General, participated as an Observer in the proceedings of the 37th Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers, which was held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, on 18 - 20 May, 2010.  In his speech, which was circulated to the participating delegations, the PUIC Secretary General said that this session comes in the wake of the Extraordinary Open-ended Meeting of the PUIC Executive Committee, held on 10th May 2010, in Istanbul, which centered on the new settlements in Al-Quds which are detrimental to world peace.  
 
He stated that the said meeting adopted a unified Islamic Stance on the issue.  The Secretary General also focused on the imperative of cooperation
and coordination between the PUIC and the OIC in order to perform their complementary role in the executive and legislative domains in order to serve the causes of the Muslim Ummah and realize its common hopes.

On the sidelines of the meeting, the PUIC Secretary General met with a number of foreign ministers and heads of participating delegations.  He also reached an agreement with the Director General of the Islamic Scientific, Education and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) H.E. Mr. Abdul Aziz Twaijeri, on consideration of the MOU for cooperation between the PUIC and ISESCO. The two sides have already exchanged the draft MOU for signature as soon as possible.
