Joint Declaration of Political Parties on Israel's Attacks Against Al-Aqsa Mosque

Joint Declaration of Political Parties on Israel

Israel’s violence against defenseless Palestinian civilians in al-Quds, its repressive policies and attempts to obstruct the freedom of worship have reached quite a dire dimension just on the eve of Eid al-Fitr.

The atrocious attacks by the Israeli security forces using gas, plastic bullets, and stun grenades in and around the Al-Aqsa Mosque caused many innocent Palestinians, including babies and children, to be injured. We, as the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, hereby strongly condemn this atrocity and lawlessness.

We would like to emphasize once again that Israel’s operations for confiscating the houses of the Palestinians in the Sheikh Jarrah and Silvan neighborhoods in al-Quds, where they had lived for generations, and forcefully evicting them in favor of illegal settlers are unlawful and inhuman. We hereby declare that we are providing full support to the United Nation’s (UN) call to Israel to stop the demolitions and evictions in line with international humanitarian law and human rights laws and to preserve the status quo of holy places, and that all UN member states should stand behind such call with determination.

Moreover, the resolution of the International Criminal Court (ICC) that it has jurisdiction over the Palestine territory including East al-Quds, which has been under Israeli occupation since 1967, has paved the way for Israel to be held accountable for the crimes it is committing on Palestinian land, and for identifying those responsible for such crimes. We accordingly demand and support ICC taking a clear stance against Israel, and thus, fulfilling its duties, as far as the incidents that take place and the crimes of humanity are concerned.

We are calling out to the entire world for the international community to take action in an effective and result-oriented approach, without losing further time, against the al-Quds related practices of Israel in violation of international law, including the resolutions of the UN Security Council and the UN General Assembly regarding al-Quds.

We, as the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, declare in the strongest sense of the word that we shall continue to always react as required to Israel’s belligerent acts to erode the status of al-Quds and Masjid al-Haram, and its attempts to extort the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, and we shall continue to defend the Palestinian cause, and the struggle of our Palestinian brothers and sisters for freedom, justice, and independence.
