The People’s Assembly of the Syrian Arab Republic requested the Arab nation and all international institutions to use all available means to exercise pressure on Israel in order to immediately halt its current aggression. In its statement the Assembly also demanded providing protection for the Palestinians lifting the Israeli siege and enabling them to restore their legitimate national rights, primarily their right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state on their own territory.(original statement) 31 December 2009
