On the invitation from the OIC, H.E. Professor Dr. Mahmud Erol KILIC, PUIC Secretary General participated, as an Observer, in the Inter-Governmental Experts Meeting on Commemoration Day of Massacres Perpetrated against Muslim Communities in the 20^th Century, held in Istanbul, Republic of Turkey, on 16-17 May 2008. The meeting, in conclusion of its proceedings issued a statement in which it proposed the establishment of the Memorial Day for massacres committed against Muslim Communities in the XX. Century as common commemoration date in the OIC Member States. Expert Committee decided to approach national parliaments as well as PUIC on adoption of the Memorial Day initiative including Provisional List.
