Prominent International Figures Support Iraq’s Efforts to Realize Stability

Their Excellencies Secretary General of the United Nations Mr. Ban Ki Moon, President of the World Bank Mr. Jim Yong Kim and President of the Islamic Development Bank Mr. Ahmd Mohammed Ali visited the Republic of Iraq, and addressed an ordinary session of the Iraqi House of Representatives.
At the beginning of the Session, His Excellency the Speaker of the House of Representatives Dr. Salim al- Jibouri described the visit of the three international personalities as historic, stressing their stand by the side of Iraq against extremism.
In his statement the UN Secretary General stressed that terrorism spares no one, and that it targets civilians everywhere. He described DAESH terrorist group as an enemy that targets innocent people. Mr. Ban Ki Moon invited all Iraqi leaders to reach a common vision for national reconciliation.
The President of the World Bank, Mr. Jim Yong Kim stated that the Bank is extending $ 350 million to support a project for rebuilding and rehabilitating regions which have been liberated from DAESH occupation. He also mentioned that the Bank extended to Iraq recently a loan amounting to $ 1.2 billion to help Iraq overcome its financial crisis.
On the other hand the President of the Islamic Development Bank Mr. Ahmed Mohammed Ali stressed that the visit of the three delegations meant to extend support to the efforts of Iraq to build a strong economy according to sustainable plans, as well as to establish economic relations with the IDB members and the UN system and the World Bank.
