Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) designated March 21 of each year as “Mediterranean Day”.
In a statement PAM stated that Mediterranean Day 2014 is dedicated for the promotion of human rights, rule of law, justice, security, social solidarity, and a better future for children.
On this occasion PAM said it wishes to draw attention on and highlight the role of parliaments in protecting the rights of children.
It stated that children are the first to suffer from social degradation, as refugees and displaced in situations of war and conflict, as child soldiers, in child trafficking, and as unaccompanied migrants.
