PUIC Participates in Regional Symposium on Management of Diversity in Africa

PUIC Secretary General H.E. Prof. Mahmud Erol KILIC delegated Mr. Ambassador Siddiq Yousif Abu Agla, Director of the Cabinet of the Secretary General, to participate in the proceedings of the Regional Symposium on Management of Diversity in Africa which was organized by the National Caucus of Sudanese Women Parliamentarians, in Khartoum, on 23-25 July 2011. Women Parliamentarians from a large number of African Parliaments took part in the Symposium which was also attended by several representatives of Parliamentary unions as well as the United Nations.
Academics and specialists submitted working papers which covered highlights of diversity and pluralism in Africa; foundations and principles of political, economic and social justice as essentials for the success of diversity management; role of parliaments in promoting the bases and pivots of coexistence within the framework of the national state aimed at addressing the challenges of achieving national unity and the building of new nations in Africa. The symposium also reviewed successful experiences in the management of diversity.
Ambassador Siddig Abu Agla presented a paper on PUIC experience in advancing joint parliamentary action, and the implementation of the recommendations adopted by the specialized conferences of PUIC organs related to strengthening the role of women in society.
