PUIC Secretary General Participates in the 18th General Assembly of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM)

As part of the notable cooperation between the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean, the Secretary General of the PUIC participated on the 15th and 16th of May 2024 in the 18th General Assembly of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean, held at the Portuguese Parliament in Braga.

On this occasion, participants called for fostering an open dialogue on the one hand, and demonstrating solidarity on the other, in order to jointly address the challenges facing the regions of the Mediterranean Parliament, such as conflicts, wars and the aggravation of the phenomenon of climate change. Participants also highlighted the importance of promoting sustainable development and ensuring human rights amid increasing levels of conflict and poverty.

The participants also called for greater efforts to ensure that the international community upholds its responsibilities by putting an end to the ongoing aggression and genocide against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. They also announced the launch of the PAM campaign against human trafficking and migrant smuggling, and underlined PAM's commitment to combating transnational crime and environmental challenges, while calling for global cooperation towards peace and prosperity.
