The 50th meeting of the PUIC Executive Committee

The Executive Committee of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States of the (PUIC) held its 50th meeting in the city of Constantine. Algeria, on the 15th February 2024, upon an invitation from His Excellency Mr Ibrahim Boughali, Speaker of the National People’s Assembly of Algeria, PUIC Sessional President.

The Members of the Standing Specialised Committee on Economic Affairs and Environment Participated in the meeting in addition to the members of the Executive Committee. the Following Assemblies/Parliaments were represented in the meeting: Algeria, Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Iran, Gabon, Qatar, Tajikistan, Türkiye, Lebanon, Morocco, Mozambique, Saudi Arabia, and Uganda.

The meeting focused on two basic points, i.e.:

Following up the resolution of the previous PUIC Conference.

The continuous brutal Zionist aggression on the steadfast Gaza.

Concerning the first point, the establishment of an incubator of start-up institutions for Muslim youth in the states of PUIC member parliaments:

The meeting discussed the project to establish an incubator to activate, encourage and develop economic activities for the benefit of Muslim youth, in implementation of Resolution No. 12/17 - Standing Committee on Economic Affairs and Environment - of the 17th session of the PUIC Conference held on 30 January 2023 in Algiers.

Regarding the barbaric Zionist aggression against the Gaza Strip: The Final Declaration issued by the Constantine meeting underlined the urgent need to immediately stop the Israeli aggression and prosecute the Zionist perpetrators before international justice for the crimes committed against the Palestinian people.

After a number of participating delegations shared their valuable observations and opinions in order to enrich this draft, the necessary decisions were taken and forwarded to all PUIC members.
