The Palestine National Council (PNC) stressed that the intention of Israel to change the status quo of Al-Aqsa Mosque by allowing Jews to pray in it, and allocating a place and specific times for performing their religious rituals is considered a violation and aggression against the religious right of all Muslims, and an attempt by the Israeli Knesset to Judaize Al-Aqsa Mosque which is situated within the borders of the occupied State of Palestine which was recognized by the United Nations two years ago.
In a message sent by H.E. the Speaker of the PNC to H.E. the PUIC Secretary General it was confirmed that the intended Israeli measure violates the Hague Convention (1907) and the Fourth Geneva Convention (1949) which provide for the protection of cultural sites and places of worship in the time of war and foreign occupation.
It also violates the resolutions of the UN Security Council which considered the city lf Al-Quds an occupied city.
Furthermore, the message states that the legislation which the Knesset has started discussing on 27/10/2014 in this regard is a provocation of the sentiments, not only of the Palestinians, but also of all the Arabs and Muslims, increases violence in the region and ignites the fires of religious war therein.
