OIC Islamophobia Observatory Condemns Muslim Family run over in Canada

The Islamophobia Observatory of the General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned in the strongest terms the heinous terrorist run-over perpetrated by an extremist youngster against a Muslim family in the Canadian province of Ontario, killing four of them and seriously injuring one of their sons.

The Canadian authorities have described this criminal act as a hate-motivated terrorist attack against safe and peaceful citizens.

While expressing its sincere condolences to the families of the victims, and wishing the wounded a speedy recovery, the OIC General Secretariat called for ensuring justice and taking the necessary preventive measures to address Islamophobia trends and hatred against Muslims that started to spread alarmingly in many countries where Muslims constitute minority.

The General Secretariat renewed the OIC call to the UN and other international and regional organizations to declare 15 March as an International day of solidarity against Islamophobia, to raise global awareness of the danger of Islamophobia, hatred and intolerance against Muslims.

Furthermore, it reiterated the OIC call on the international community to take practical measures to address this phenomenon and to promote tolerance, understanding and peaceful coexistence in the world.
