Joint Statement by Members of Parliament Against Israeli Annexation of Palestinian Territories

Joint Statement by Members of Parliament Against Israeli Annexation of Palestinian Territories

Initiative launched by Indonesia

On this International Parliament Day,

We parliamentarians from around the world strongly condemn and reject the recent annexation plan of Palestinian territory by Israel. Such formal annexation is a blatant violation of international law and the global rules-based order.

We reiterate our solidarity and commitment to the Palestinian people, including their right for self-determination, and the creation of an independent Palestine.

We call upon the international community to remain resolute in its commitment to safeguard the two-state solution as well as the maintenance of international and regional peace and security.

We are profoundly concerned that the threat of annexation occurs at a time when the world is struggling with the COVID-19 pandemic.

We stand ready to support international and regional diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in the Middle East on the basis of the relevant United Nations resolutions and other internationally agreed parameters.
