Sudan: A Busy Schedule for the SG

(Khartoum) The PUIC Delegation, headed by Professor Kilic and including Ambassador Ali Asghar Mohammadi, Assistant Secretary General and Ambassador Siddik Y. Abu Aghla, Director of Cabinet had a hectic programme during their visit to the Sudan.

H.E. Omar Hassan Ahmed Al Bashir, President of the Sudan received the Secretary General and his accompanying delegation at the Presidential Palace in Khartoum.

President Bashir reviewed the current developments in the Sudan and the Islamic World. He called for the collaboration of the Ummah at the present juncture. The President highly appreciated the support offered to him by Muslim and Arab States.
On his part Mr. Kilic emphasized PUIC backing of the Sudan vis-à-vis the challenges which it is facing.
The Secretary General also held talks with the Speaker of the Sudanese National Assembly, Mr Ahmed Ibrahim Al Tahir at the Nile-side Assembly building in Omdurman. The two sides addressed all aspects of Islamic Parliamentary life and activities. They stressed the importance of coordination in issues of concern to the Ummah.
The Secretary General also met with the Speaker of the Council of States, Mulana Ali Yahya and discussed relevant parliamentary affairs. The Council of States together with the National Assembly form the National Legislature (Parliament).
The Secretary General also addressed a special session of the Sudanese National Assembly.
The programme of the SG visit to Sudan included a tour of the Sudan National Museum and National Archives as well as a number of academic and research institutions. Professor Kilic delivered a lecture at African World University which has students from (90) States.
