31st Plenary Session CIS-PA, Saint Petsburg, 22 - 24 November 2008

PUIC Secretary General on an invitation attended 31st Plenary Session of the Council of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS-PA). The Agenda of the meeting was "On the improvement of the international cooperation in the field of democratic elections and "On legal provision of the food security in the CIS Member Nations. The Secretary General also attended the 140th Anniversary of Saint Petsburg Declaration Renouncing the Use of Explosive Projectiles (1868) which was also held in Saint Petersburg during the 31st Plenary Session. It was attended by parliamentarians from many countries of the world, political leaders of the CIS Member Nations, prominent scientists, and experts in the field of International Humanitarian Law as well as high level representatives of international and regional inter-governmental and inter-parliamentary organizations.  The Secretary General delivered a speech in which he highlighted the principles and doctrines of Islam in dealing with the Humanitarian situation.
