IPU Demands Release Palestinian Detainees

The Middle East Committee of the IPU held two meetings in Geneva, Switzerland.
The 11 member Committee, which represents several states discussed developments in the Middle East as well as the efforts relating to the peace process in the region.
Members of the Committee stressed the imperative of implementing the two states solution, the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, with Al-Quds as its capital, putting an end to the Israeli occupation of Palestine, and ensuring release of detained Palestinian Parliamentarians and their treatment according to the International Law.
The IPU demanded again the Israeli occupation authorities to immediately release all detained Palestinian Parliamentarians.
The IPU Human Rights Committee adopted a resolution calling for continuing to consider the issue of the detained Palestinian Parliamentarians and to submit a report thereon to its next meeting.
