PUIC Convenes Important Meetings in Abu Dhabi

The PUIC held a number of significant meetings at YAS Hotel, Abu Dhabi, UAE, from Monday 17th January 2011 to Wednesday 19th January 2011.
The PUIC Executive Committee held its 25th Meeting on Monday 13 Safar 1432H, corresponding to 17 January 2011, chaired be H.E. Abdul Aziz Abdullah Al-Ghurair, Speaker of the Federal National Council of the UAE and President of the PUIC Council. The meeting was attended by members of the Committee representing their parliaments.
The meeting was also attended by H.E. the PUIC Secretary General and H.E. the Assistant Secretary General.
The three Standing Specialized Committees met on 16 and 17 January 2011. The committees are: Committee on Political and Economic Affairs; Committee on Legal Affairs, Human Rights and Environment; and Committee on Women, Social and Cultural Affairs. Items included in their respective agendas were debated, and a number of draft resolutions were reached.
On Tuesday 14 Safar 1432 H, corresponding to 18 January 2011, the PUIC Council held its 13th Session, which was presided over by H.E. Abdul Aziz Abdullah Al-Ghurair. The session was attended by (31) Members Parliaments, as well as four observers.
The agenda of the session contained 10 items, including election of the President of the 14th Session of the Council from the African Group. H.E. Mamadou Seck, Speaker of the Senegalese Parliament was elected president of the next Council’s Session. H.E. Shaib Bin Saidan, from Algeria, was elected as Rapporteur of the Session.
The Council adopted the Abu Dhabi Declaration as well as a number of resolutions and its Final Report.
