the Consultation Meeting of the Islamic Group along the side lines of the 123rd Assembly of the IPU, has the honour to inform that the said Meeting will be held in Meeting Room No.18 on the lower Ground Floor of the CCIG, Geneva Monday 4th October, 2010 between 09.00 to 10.30 hours.

1.    Adoption of the Draft Agenda.
2.    Brief by the Secretary General on the meeting.
3.    Adopting a unified position regarding issues of common concern for the Islamic Group on the following Agenda Items of the 123rd Assembly Meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Union:
3.1.  Consideration of possible requests for the inclusion of an  emergency item in the Assembly agenda:
3.1.1.  Importance of international Parliamentary cooperation in the face of natural disasters, specially in the framework of extending relief to the victims of floods in Pakistan (Proposed by the Federal National Council – State of the United Arab Emirates)
3.1.2. The Role of parliaments in combating defamation of religions and cultures and inadmissibility of offending religious sentiments. (Proposed by Islamic Republic of Iran.)
3.1.3. Terrorism (Proposed by Republic of Yemen).
3.1.4.  Sea Piracy  (Proposed by Republic of Yemen)
3.2.   Election of the President and Vice-Presidents of the 123rd Assembly. (Proposed by IPU)
3.3.   Panel discussions on the subject items chosen for debate during the 124th Assembly. (Proposed by IPU)
3.3.1 Providing a sound legislative framework aimed at preventing electoral violence, improving election monitoring and ensuring the smooth transition of power. (Proposed by IPU)
3.3.2 The role of parliaments in ensuring sustainable development through the management of natural resources, agricultural production and demographic change. (Proposed by IPU)
3.3.3 Transparency and accountability in the funding of political parties and election campaigns. (Proposed by IPU)
4.     Report of the IPU Committee on United Nations Affairs. (Proposed by IPU)
5.    Any other business.
