Syrian People’s Assembly Calls for World Action

6 June 2010 -  PUIC Desk

The crime against humanity which Israel has committed, thus violating the simplest rules of International Law and human rights by attacking the Freedom Flotilla, which was carrying participants from fifty nationalities from around the world, on a humanitarian mission to deliver food and medicine to the besieged Palestinian people in Gaza, necessitates a firm and categorical stand against this crime by all international institutions and organizations.

The Syrian peoples Assembly addresses the following institutions and organizations:

-              Inter-Parliamentary Union

-              European Parliamentary Union

-              Euro-Med

-              Asian Parliamentary Assembly

-              Arab Parliamentary Union

-              PAM
-              PUIC

It invites them to take practical stances against the aggressor Israel. This call is not a conventional one aimed at expression of condemnation and denunciation. It is rather for taking practical measures against Israel because of its crime against the international community and humanity. It should be highlighted that the inability of the international community to impose deterrent sanctions on Israel will encourage it and other terrorists, pirates and outlaws to perpetrate more bigger and gruesome crimes.

It must also be underlined that this crime was not accidental or the result of unforeseen confrontations. Categorical proof has shown that Israel planned for committing murder in order to send a clear message to the international community and the world that it will kill any human action, whether peaceful or non-peaceful, that seeks to break the blockade imposed on the Palestinian people in Gaza. This message has been actually received, and the international community ought to reply to it.

The Peoples Assembly of Syria requests to make the aggression of 31 May 2010 the most important and urgent item to be discussed by all international parliamentary institutions. It also calls for cooperation in order to lift the inhuman siege of Gaza, open the crossings and put an end to the Israeli aggressions on the Palestinian people in the occupied Arab territories.
