PUIC Secretary General Condemns Attack on Islamic Centre in San Diego, California

The Islamic Centre in San Diego, California, USA, came under vicious attack on 18 May 2026, with assailants targeting the centre, which houses a mosque, a school, as well as other facilities. The attack resulted in several fatalities, including the centre’s brave security guard.

The Secretary General of the PUIC, H.E. Mr Mouhamed Khouraichi Niass, strongly condemns this attack targeting Muslims in the United States. H.E. further notes that this attack is driven by hatred towards Muslims, who are incited against, particularly on social media.

The Secretary General also warns of the rising Islamophobia in the US and extends his deepest condolences to the families of those killed whilst worshipping Allah and defending His sanctities. He also extends his condolences to the Muslim community in San Diego, California, praying to Allah the Almighty to shower the deceased with His mercy and grant them a place in His vast Paradise.
