The Conference, which took place under the theme "Peace, Security and Development", brought together parliamentary leaders from more than 40 countries around the world, as well as representatives from several international and regional organizations.
It emphasized that sustainable development cannot be achieved without lasting peace, and that peace cannot be achieved without justice, equality and comprehensive growth. 
The Conference, organised by the Parliament of Pakistan, called for institutionalising parliamentary diplomacy through MoUs, joint committees, parliamentary gatherings and youth forums, and strengthening partnerships to address cross-border issues such as climate change, food and water security, and conflict resolution.
On the sidelines of the conference, H.E. the Secretary General met with a number of parliamentary leaders present and discussed with them the relations between their parliaments and the PUIC and ways to strengthen them.
