Maldives President Approves Resolution Banning Israelis from Entering the Country

The President of the Maldives, H.E Mr. Mohamed Muizzu ratified on Tuesday 15 April 2025 a resolution banning the entry of Israelis into the country. In a statement, the Maldives presidency stated that banning the entry of Israelis reflects the stance of the Indian Ocean archipelago islands following the genocide committed by Israel against the Palestinians.

The presidential statement added that the Maldives, which is a member of the PUIC and the OIC, continues condemning Israel's violations of international law and advocating for holding it accountable for its violations.

In April last year, one of the Maldives Islands banned the entry of anyone holding an Israeli passport, whereas citizens of the Republic of Maldives had earlier held protests in front of their country's parliament to voice their outrage over the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.

It is worth noting that since 7 October 2023, Israel has been committing a genocide in Gaza that has resulted in more than 167,000 Palestinian martyrs and wounded, most of whom are women and children, and more than 11,000 missing persons.
