PUIC Secretary General Welcomes UNGA Resolution Affirming Permanent Sovereignty of the Palestinian People in the OPT

The Secretary General of the PUIC, H.E. Mr. Mouhamed Khouraichi Niass, welcomed the UN General Assembly's resolution affirming the “permanent sovereignty of the Palestinian people in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT)”, which calls upon all countries and international organisations to actively work towards ensuring the full restoration of the Palestinian people's rights and the establishment of their independent state, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.

H.E. also welcomed the UNGA resolution inviting the International Court of Justice to render a legal opinion on Israel's humanitarian obligations in the Gaza Strip, in order to compel the Zionist entity to allow the delivery of humanitarian aid provided by the United Nations and international organisations to Palestinians living under illegal occupation.

The Secretary General also thanked the Kingdom of Norway for introducing the resolution, which received 137 votes in favour.

Moreover, the Norwegian Prime Minister further added on that occasion that it is unacceptable for Israel to prevent the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Palestinians and that Israel is not entitled to expel UN organisations from the Palestinian territories it occupies.
