Foreign Minister of Turkey visits PUIC Headquarters

Foreign Minister of Turkey H.E. Ahmet Davutoglu paid a visit to the PUIC Headquarters in Tehran on Tuesday afternoon 16th February 2010 . The Minister was received by H.E. PUIC Secretary General Prof. Mahmud Erol KILIC.
Minister Davutoglu praised the tasks and objectives of the Union and  characterized them as epitomizing relations among peoples that seek to enrich cooperation and coordination between the PUIC Member Parliaments and strengthen relations between PUIC States. He stated that Turkey supports and backs the PUIC and maintained that the Union’s actions promote and defend causes of  the Ummah.
Mr. Davutoglu stressed that Turkey always supports the Palestinian cause. He called for the release of Palestinian deputies who are detained in Israeli prisons and further added that Parliamentarians ought to be respected. He also called for extending support to the issues of Muslim societies.
In conclusion he appealed to all PUIC Member Parliaments to support the work of the General Secretariat and called on them to energize their activities and actions vis-à-vis the Union aimed at achieving the PUIC sublime objectives.
The Minister toured the premises of the General Secretariat and was briefed on its work mechanism.
