The Secretary General Condoles over the Passing of the Former Speaker of the Egyptian Parliament

On Saturday, 27 Ramadan 1445 H, corresponding to 6 April 2024, Mr. Ahmad Fathi Sorour, former Speaker of the Egyptian Parliament, passed away in Egypt at the age of 92.

On this painful occasion, H.E. Mr. Mouhamed Khouraichi Niass, Secretary General of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC), sent a message of condolences to H.E. Hanafy Ali El-Gebaly, Speaker of the Egyptian Parliament, praying to Allah Almighty to bestow His mercy on the deceased and to grant him peaceful rest in his heavenly abode.

The late Ahmed Fathy had assumed the rotating presidency of the PUIC in 2000, as he was the Speaker of the Egyptian Parliament, which he presided for 21 years.
