H.E. the Ugandan President opens the Sixth Session of the PUIC Conference

The sixth session of the PUIC started its proceedings  Saturday, January 30th, 2010 in Kampala where His Excellency Mr. Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi, Speaker of the Ugandan Parliament, was elected as the President of the Sixth Session of the Union to succeed Dr.  Ahmed Fathi Sorour, Speaker of the Egyptian Parliament and the President of the Fifth Session of the PUIC Conference.  Delegations from  thirty Parliaments  attended the 6th Conference ,among them  ten Parliament Speakers.   
The opening session was graced by the presence of H.E.  Yoweri Kaguta Musevini, President of the Republic of Uganda. H.E. addressed a keynote speech in which, he expressed his thanks for choosing the Republic of Uganda to host this session. He called for cooperation  for development between his country and  the Islamic countries . H.E. also expressed the wish for positive results of the  Conference . At the opening session Prof.. Dr. Ahmed Fathi Sorour, Speaker of the People's Assembly of Egypt and President  of the 5th session and His Excellency Professor. Mahmud Erol Kilic Secretary General of the PUIC, His Eminence Hojjat al-Islam wa Al Mouslimin  Ali Akbar Nateq Nouri, Advisor to the Supreme  Leader of the Islamic  Revolution in Iran and President of the Founding  Conference of the PUIC and His Excellency Edward Kiwanuka  Ssekandi, the Speaker of the Ugandan parliament took the floor.
At the beginning of the Session two Vice-Presidents, His Excellency Mr. Ahmed Ibrahim Al-Tahir, Speaker  of the Sudanese National Assembly (for the Arab Group) and His Excellency Marzouki Alie  ,Speaker of the Indonesian Parliament ( for the Asian Group) were elected.
The conference will continue its work in the morning of January 31, 2010 by examining the remaining items on the agenda and  adoption of the Kampala Declaration.
