Bahrain

The Shura Council expresses its strong condemnation and denunciation of the Israeli bombing that targeted Al-Ahly Baptist Hospital in the Gaza Strip last evening (Tuesday), which resulted in the death and injury of hundreds of innocent citizens. The Council expresses its sincere condolences and deepest sympathy to the families of the victims and to the brotherly Palestinian people, and prays for a swift recovery to all the injured.

The Shura Council reiterates the position of the Kingdom of Bahrain and its call on the international community to intervene urgently to achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, ensure respect for international humanitarian law, protect hospitals, homes, and civilian facilities, provide protection for civilians, and open urgent humanitarian corridors to allow aid into the Gaza Strip.

The Shura Council asserts that the continued state of fighting and clashes in the Gaza Strip would harm security and stability in the region and negatively affect the efforts and endeavours aimed at achieving a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East region. The Council also reiterates its support and commitment to regional and international efforts to de-escalate the situation and stop the cycle of violence and conflict.

The Shura Council also affirms that the Palestinian cause remains the first Arab cause, and that the stance of the Kingdom of Bahrain will remain unwavering and supportive of the rights of the brotherly Palestinian people to establish their independent state with Eastern Al-Quds as its capital, leading to a two-state solution, in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative and the resolutions of international legitimacy, and restoring the peace process in the Middle East region, thereby ensuring greater security, safety and stability for all peoples and countries in the region.
