Islamic Group Approves Pakistan’s Proposal

The Consultative Meeting of the Islamic Group took place on 10th October 2022, in Kigali, Rwanda, on the sidelines of the 145th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Conference.

A large number of PUIC Members participated in the meeting which was chaired by H.E. the Speaker of the Council of the Sultanate of Oman, Mr. Khalid Al Mewali.

The participants discussed proposals put forward for the Emergency Items on the Agenda of the Conference. Pakistan and Iraq offered two proposals.

The meeting decided that H.E. Mr. Mouhamed Khouraichi NIASS, the PUIC Secretary General, was to follow up the matter with the Pakistani and Iraqi delegations aimed at the possibility of agreement on a single proposal. In the end, the Pakistani proposal was given precedence, which was about: “Creating a World Fund / Financial Facilities for countries exposed to the Effects of Climate change in order to Tackle losses and Damages Related to Climate Change.”
