Facing the Demolition Campaign: Palestinians Call for Decisive International Positions

The Palestine National Council (PNC) called on the International Community and parliamentary Unions to take decisive stances for condemning the Israeli ethnic cleansing crimes against Palestinian citizens.

In a statement the PNC said that the most recent Israeli occupation violations of the International law, the Geneva and the Hague Conventions, the UN resolutions and peace agreements were manifested in demolition of houses, commercial, industrial and agricultural facilities as well as the infrastructure in occupied Palestine, especially in the city of Al-Quds. The Statement said that the occupation authorities have started to demolish 16 housing buildings, comprising 100 apartments in which about 500 individuals live in south eastern part of occupied Al-Quds.

The Statement added that the demolition process in the city of Al-Quds was the largest of its kind in 2018 amounting to 45%: demolition of 68 houses and 178 facilities. Furthermore, the occupation authorities have put restrictions on building by Palestinians, with only 12% of their land remaining. Out of this area only 7% is allowed to Palestinians for living and building on prohibitive conditions.

The PNC also recalled that since until the end of June 2006 the Occupation authorities demolished 1440 Palestinian houses, more than half of them in occupied Al- Quds. Since 1987 to date these authorities demolished more than 6000 houses in different parts of occupied Palestine.
