TEHRAN (IRNA) -- Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani in a phone call with his Turkish counterpart Koksal Toptan described the ongoing events in Gaza as ‘tragic and regretful’.

Larijani said, “The Zionist regime’s brutal crimes against defenseless Gaza people and massacre of Muslim children and women are heart-rending for any freedom loving Muslim.”
He said that Muslim states need to take immediate measures and actions to prevent continued aggressions of the Qods-occupying regime against Palestinian civilians.
Present conditions of defenseless Muslim people of Gaza necessitate all Muslims to defend their Islamic identity, he added.
He added that the Islamic Inter-Parliamentary Association should hold an emergency session to seriously look into Palestinians’ genocide and make diplomatic efforts to avoid continuation of inhuman atrocities against Gaza people in the occupied lands.
Toptan, strongly deploring Zionist regime’s military action against Palestinian people in Gaza, thanked Iran for its stances in connection with Gaza.
He said that Turkish officials are in efforts to check the invasion on Palestinian civilians by the Zionist regime.
“Turkey’s national assembly is willing to take more gigantic strides in this connection and to this end it wants to hold consultation with Iranian Majlis to convene emergency meeting of the members of the executive committee of the inter-parliamentary association soon in Turkey,” he added.
