The House of Representatives of Malaysia strongly condemned the Israeli attacks on the Palestinian Territory of Gaza, claiming the lives of Palestinian civilians, including women, children, infants and the elderly, and resulting in the destruction of properties and infrastructure.
In a unanimously adopted resolution the House stated that these attacks violate international law, human rights law, international humanitarian law, UN Charter, and that they constitute a war crime in breach of the Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949 relating to the Protection of Civilian persons in Time of War.
The Resolution urges the UN Security Council to compel Israel to immediately cease its military attacks on Gaza through ceasefire, and to decide in deploying a UN peacekeeping force to enforce the ceasefire.
The Resolution also urged the UN General Assembly to convene an Emergency Special Session of the UN General Assembly “Uniting For Peace”, under resolution 377A(V) should the UN Security Council fail to implement its responsibilities.
The resolution stated further that Malaysia shall work with the Member States of the OIC, Non-Aligned Movement, Arab League and other like-minded states to undertake more concrete actions to uphold the principles of international law and the UN Charter in addressing the conflict as currently developing in the Middle East.
