Signing Memorandum of Understanding between PUIC and UNOCT

The United Nations Office of Counter Terrorism (UNOCT) and the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States (PUIC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in supporting OIC Member States national parliaments’ efforts to prevent and conter-terrorism and violent extremism conducive to terrorism.

The MoU was signed by Mr. Vladimir Voronkov, Under-Secretary-General of UNOCT, and H.E. Mr. Mouhamed Khouraichi Niass, Secretary General of the PUIC, during a virtual ceremony on 14 November, 2024.

H.E. Mouhamed Khouraichi Niass, Secretary General of the PUIC, highlighted the importance of the MoU and its potential impact on strengthening parliamentary capacities to address security challenges.“ On behalf of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) I am very pleased today to sign this MoU which will allow us to increase our cooperation between our organizations, United Nations Office of Counter Terrorism (UNOCT) and PUIC. We are ready to respect this MoU because since we don’t have a Planet B, we have to double our efforts to live together in this planet with remedial respect, cooperation and understanding”, he said.

The two parties congratulated the signing of the memorandum of understanding by showing it to the camera.
