PUIC Attends 37th Session of the APU

H.E. PUIC Secretary General Prof. Dr. Mahmud Erol KILIC delegated H.E. Ambassador Siddiq Yousef Abu Agla, Director of the Cabinet, to participate, on his behalf, in the proceedings of the 37th Session of the Conference of Speakers of the Member Parliaments of the African Parliamentary Union (APU), which was held in Rabat, Kingdom of Morocco, on 28 October – 2 November 2014.
The Session focused on two themes: Struggle of African countries against terrorism, in all its forms through national capacity building, and enhancing international cooperation, as well as achieving sustainable development in all its dimensions as a major objective of peace, security and socio-economic progress in Africa Countries.
The speech of His Excellency the Secretary General at the Conference included the important resolutions adopted by the PUIC Conference on Combating terrorism and PUIC effort to adopt all aspects of sustainable development as an essential element in peace, security and socio-economic development.
The PUIC delegate also made an intervention in the meeting of the committee of African Women Parliamentarian, which discussed micro-finance as a means of Fighting poverty in Africa and the advancement of women economically. It also included the role of women in all aspects of development.
The opening session was honoured by the presence of H.E. A. Benkiran, the Prime Minister of Morocco. The opening proceedings were chaired by H.E. Mr. Rachid Al-Taliby Al-Alami, Speaker of the House of Representatives. H.E. Mr. Mohammad Baidallah, Speaker of the House of Counsellors chaired the proceedings of the 65 Session of the APU Executive Committee.
