25 May 2009 PUIC Desk (Damascus) Dr. Mahmud Al Abrash, Speaker of the People’s Assembly of Syria and Professor Mahmud Erol Kiliç reviewed existing relations of cooperation between the Assembly and the PUIC and the means of promoting them.

The PUIC Secretary General visited the Syrian Parliament on the sideline of the 36th Session of the OIC Foreign Ministers Conference which was held in Damascus on 23 – 25 May 2009.
Dr. Al Abrash stressed the importance of developing parliamentary relations of cooperation among Muslim States. He also underscored the necessity of paying attention to and propagating Islamic Studies due to their role in strengthening OIC action.
Professor Kiliç also briefed the Syrian Speaker of the activities and future plans of the Union.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Sulleiman Haddad, Head of the Foreign Relations Committee of the People’s Assembly.
