On the sideline of OIC meeting , H.E. Professor Kiliç had meetings with the Speaker of Parliament of Syria H.E. Dr. Mahmud Al Abrash and visited Syrian Parliament's magnificent building, he visited the headquarter of the Arab Parliamentary Union and met Secretary General Mr. Nour Eddine Bouchkouj as well as the Syrian branch of Arab Women’s Association.

Economic activities based on the ten year OIC program of action (TYPOA), combating Islamophobia, maintaining peace, as well as humanitarian issues are part of the 3 day discussions between the 57 states and Observers present from 23 to 25 May 2009 in Damascus which was also attended by the Syrian President Bashar Assad.
