PUIC SECRETARY GENERAL
VIEWS WITH CONCERN THE DEVELOPMENT TAKING
PLACE IN THE SISTERLY COUNTRY OF MAURITANIA 

          The Secretary General of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) Mahmud Erol KILIC views with concern the developments taking place in sisterly Mauritania following the recent coup d’état over the democratically elected government. He deems such developments as a regrettable setback for the democratic process in that PUIC Member country and an impediment to its political, social and economic progress.
 
          Secretary General KILIC calls for the immediate restoration of democratic process and the release of the President and other members of the parliament.
