The Speaker of the National Assembly of Mali, member of the PUIC Presidential Troika delivered a speech in which he said that his country strongly condemns the recent resumption of hostilities and attacks against the residents of the Gaza Strip, which resulted in the death of hundreds of people including children, and thousands injured, as well as dispersed more than 100,000 people from northern Gaza who have been forced to evacuate their homes and leave the country. He said that his country was co-author of all relevant resolutions at the General Assembly of the United Nations.
He also stressed that the implementation of these resolutions requires Israeli withdrawal from the occupied Arab territories of June 1967, the lifting of restrictions and the free movement of people and goods. He also called on the international community to demand Israel to respect its obligations under the relevant legal instruments on human rights and international humanitarian law, including the Geneva Convention of 12 August 1949 on the protection of civilians in wartime and the Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1989.
