Eight Session of the PUIC Conference

-    The Session was held in Khartoum, Republic of the Sudan on 21-22 January 2013, corresponding to 9-10 Rabi ul Awwal 1434H.
-    39 PUIC Member Parliaments participated in the Session, represented by Speakers of Parliaments, Deputy Speakers, Heads of Delegations. The Session was also attended by Observers and Guests.
-    First Vice-President of the Republic of the Sudan, H.E.Mr. Ali Osman Mohammad Taha attended the inaugural session and addressed the Conference.
-    The 8th Conference was preceded by meetings of the four Standing Specialized Committees:
o    Committee on Political Affairs and Foreign Relations
o    Committee on Economic Affairs and Environment
o    Committee on Human Rights, Women and Family
o    Committee on Cultural and Legal Affairs and Dialogue among Civilizations and Religions.
-    Rapporteurs of the above committees submitted their reports and resolutions to the 8th Conference for consideration and adoption.
-    The Second Conference of Muslim Women Parliamentarians was held alongside the 8th PUIC Conference.
-    The Standing Committee on Palestine held a meeting. Reports of the First and Second meetings of the Committee were adopted by the 8th PUIC Conference.
-    The PUIC Conference nominated members of the PUIC General Committee for the year 2013.
-    The Conference nominated members of the PUIC Executive Committee for the year 2013.
-    Members of the Standing Specialized Committees for the year 2013 were also nominated by the Conference.
-    The Conference agreed:
•    To hold 9th PUIC Conference in Burkina Faso in 2014.
•    10th PUIC Conference to be hosted by a Parliament from the Asian Group.
•    Invitation by the National Assembly of Azerbaijan to host the 30th Meeting of the PUIC Executive Committee
•    The Conference adopted its Final Report, Khartoum Declaration and Final Communique.
•    The Conference approved to accept the Parliament of the Federal Comoro Islands as full PUIC Member.
•    The Conference approved the request of the Arab Parliament to be accepted as an observer at the PUIC.
