H. E. Mr. Khalifa Bin Ahmed Al Dhahrani, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Kingdom of Bahrain, sent a letter to H.E. the PUIC Secretary General, thanking him for exerting incessant and tangible efforts in order to promote the progress of the Union and raise the issues of concern to States of Member Parliaments through the various PUIC organs, and project them at various regional and international levels.
Mr. Dhahrani stated that he was addressing the PUIC Secretary General about the conditions of Palestinians detained in Israeli prisons, including members of the Palestinian legislative Council.
The latter pointed to the violence practiced against them, including repression and torture which constitute a blatant violation of human rights by the Israeli occupation authorities.
The Bahraini Speaker requested the PUIC Secretary General to place this issue on the list of priorities and to circulate the letter among the Speakers of PUIC Member Parliaments.
