In its 26th Meeting: The PUIC Executive Committee Recommends Change of Name

The PUIC Executive Committee held its 26th Meeting at Rixos Hotel in Ankara, Capital of the Republic of Turkey, on 20th November 2011, under the chairmanship of H.E. Mr. Emrullah Isler, representative of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (the host parliament) to the PUIC, and the participation of 8 members of the Committee.
The Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda Hon. Rebecca Kadaga, attended the opening session and addressed the meeting.
The opening session was also addressed by H.E. Mr. Mehmet Saglam, Vice-Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. In the beginning of the session H.E. the PUIC Secretary General Professor Mahmud Erol KILIC took the floor.
The Executive Committee lauded the report of the Secretary General and adopted it.
The Committee approved to recommend amending the name of the Union to be as follows “Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Member States (PUIC)”.
The Committee also agreed to recommend granting the Moro National Liberation Front observer status to the PUIC.
The Executive Committee added proposals and amendments to the Draft Agenda of the 14th Session of the PUIC General Committee.
It approved the Draft Agenda of the 7th Session of the PUIC Conference scheduled to be held in the Republic of Indonesia.
