“The brotherly People of Somalia are experiencing a colossal humanitarian catastrophe and a severe famine which led to the perish of hundreds of thousands of children, women, men and the elderly. The devastating causes and impacts of such a calamity continue to wipe out human beings and all vestiges of life in Somalia. The numbers of victims and dispersed people are multiplying by the hour as a consequence of the widespread incidence of fatal diseases and the total lack of food, medicine, clothing and shelter.
In this hospitable month of Ramadan, month of benevolence, philanthropy, intercommunication and mercy, we appeal to all Members of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) to urge their respective governments, peoples as well as civil, voluntary and humanitarian organizations to extend urgent and generous assistance to the brotherly people of Somalia and help them to overcome such a humanitarian disaster. We also commend the valuable contributions and appreciable support which have been made by governments, peoples and humanitarian organizations in order to alleviate the plight and suffering of the brotherly Somali People.
Those who have done good deeds shall be handsomely rewarded by Allah.”
