His Excellency Professor Mahmud Erol KILIC, PUIC Secretary General, issued the following statement on the plan to burn copies of the Holy Quran:

At a time when the entire world is calling for the creation of a healthy world for coexistence between civilizations, religions and other honourable beliefs, a deranged Priest in a secluded US church threatens to burn copies of the Holy Quran, linking in his dark intentions between Islam and 9/11 events. Such a linkage is quite unjust to Islam and Muslims. In fact the Messenger of Islam (PBUH) has come as a beacon of mercy to all humanity.
