Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Lebanon H.E. Nabih Berri called on parliaments in the Muslim World to support the launching of national, regional and international maritime convoys with the participation of parliamentarians and volunteers from institutions of civil society, trade unions, popular organizations, cultural and informational public opinion institutions, youth, scouts and students unions.
In his statement Mr. Berri requested the PUIC Member Parliaments to launch a campaign for the collection of medicines and food stuffs as well as building materials in order to rebuild Gaza Strip which has been destroyed by Israel’s war.
Mr. Berri emphasized that breaking the siege on Gaza must be a priority for our parliaments. He said that it is high time to prove that parliamentary diplomacy can have freedom of movement, in the international and humanitarian domains, to resist Israel’s action to deny the Palestinians the right to live.
