During the two-day 6th Session of the PUIC Conference Speeches were delivered which tackled important issues.
Following are excerpts:
• H.E. Yoweri Museveni, President of Uganda:
It is important to develop the human resource of the developing countries not only through formal education but also through acquisition of high level science and technology along with technical skills.
• H.E. Abdul Aziz Abdullah Al-Ghorair, Speaker of the Federal National Council of the UAE:
He called for constituting a provisional parliamentary Committee from the PUIC members to contact regional parliamentary unions in order to expound the illegal and negative Israeli measures and Israel’s violation of all international resolutions concerning altering the legal status of Al-Quds city.
• H.E. Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Bin Mohammad Bin Ibrahim Al-Sheikh, Speaker of the Shura Council of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia:
The Kingdom’s support of joint Islamic action is multifarious but flows into the big framework of serving the Ummah and defending its interests.
• H.E. Mehmet Ali Sahin, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey:
• Islamophobia is considered an unjust, wrong and intentional discourse. Furthermore the decision of Switzerland to ban minarets indicated that decisions and practices against Islam would continue.
• H.E. Dr. Ali Larijani, Speaker of the Islamic Parliament of Iran:
Obviously, the major issues facing the Muslim World and regional challenges were discussed at the PUIC Sixth Conference.
Iranian delegation held bilateral talks with parliament speakers of other countries on the sidelines of the summit.
• H.E. Jassem Al-Khorafi, Speaker of the National Assembly of Kuwait:
Strengthening economic cooperation and providing equipments and institutional structures, which transform cooperation into plans, programmes and projects, will contribute to promote development into our Islamic World.
• H.E. Elshad Isgandarov, Secretary General of the Islamic Youth Forum for Dialogue and cooperation:
The Kampala Summit recognizes Khojaly Tragedy as a part of genocide policy committed by the Armenian nationalist against the Azerbaijani people.
