The attacks have taken their toll on the people, the land, the sea, even the stones and the fields, and on every living and peaceful being in the besieged Gaza Strip, leaving tens of thousands of martyrs and wounded, the majority of whom were women and children. Even medical personnel and journalists were not spared. Hospitals, schools, houses of worship, and facilities of international organisations were destroyed.
Since the beginning of their aggression, the hateful invaders have blocked the flow of food and medicine to the population of Gaza and cut off water and electricity, which constitutes a collective punishment policy, a war crime, and a flagrant violation of international law and International humanitarian law.
The Secretary-General of the Union expresses deep sorrow that Israel and the countries supporting it do not take into account that the world stands against their aggression. The resolution to halt the aggression was passed by the UN's General Assembly with a majority of 120 out of 156 countries. The 147th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union saw the majority of the international parliaments come together to condemn the brutal attacks carried out by the Zionist occupation forces. Popular marches in cities such as Washington and London have denounced the military aggression and supported the people of Gaza and the Palestinian cause.
