Upon a kind invitation from the General Secretariat of the African Parliamentary Union (APU), the PUIC participated as an observer in the proceedings of the 32nd APU Conference, held in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, on 19-20 November 2009.
H.E.  the PUIC Secretary General delegated Ambassador Siddiq Yousef  Abu Agla, Director of the Cabinet of the Secretary General, to represent the Union at the Conference.
In his speech to the APU Conference, the Secretary General underlined the readiness of the PUIC General Secretariat to promote cooperation and coordination between the two organizations in all fields as well as in regional and international fora. He also called for a bigger cooperation in exchanging expertise and the creation of a mechanism to assist both General Secretariats in implementing adopted resolutions relevant to their common membership.
