Arab Interparliamentary Union Denounces Statements Calling for the Establishment of a Synagogue Within Al-Aqsa Mosque

The Arab Interparliamentary Union (AIPU) issued a statement on 28 August 2024, following provocative statements calling for the establishment of a synagogue inside the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque. AIPU denounced and condemned these calls, which reflect the Zionist extremists' desire to change the legal and historical status of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

In the statement, issued by H.E. Mr Brahim Boughali, President of the Arab Interparliamentary Union and Speaker of the People's National Assembly of Algeria, AIPU condemned in the strongest terms these statements that call for actions that are illegal and violate international law. AIPU's statement emphasized that Al-Aqsa Mosque is a great religious and historical symbol for Muslims, and the historical status quo currently standing must be respected.

The Arab Interparliamentary Union also called for urgent Arab, Islamic and international action to put an end to such statements, which aim to destabilize the status quo of Al-Aqsa Mosque. AIPU also emphasized its full solidarity with the Palestinian people and their legitimate and inalienable rights, particularly their right to establish their independent state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
