The States of Spain, Norway and Ireland have recently announced their recognition of the State of Palestine as of 28 May 2024, raising the number of countries recognising the State of Palestine to 147 out of 193 Member States of the United Nations General Assembly.

PUIC President Extends Condolences to the Islamic Republic of Iran

Following the tragic death of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Dr. Hossein Amir Abdollahian, as well as those who were with them, in a helicopter crash on Saturday 19 May 2024, H.E. Mr Adama BICTOGO, President of the PUIC and Speaker of the National Assembly of Cote d’Ivoire sent a condolence letter to H.E. Dr. Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Iranian Islamic Parliament.

Secretary General Condoles for the Martyrs of the Nation

Dr. Ibrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister H.E. Dr. Hossein Amir Abdollahian, and others in a helicopter crash which was transporting them during an international mission between Iran and Azerbaijan on Saturday 19 May, 2024.

PUIC Secretary General Welcomes UN General Assembly’s Decision to Support Full Membership of the State of Palestine in UN

The UN General Assembly adopted on 10th May, 2024, a historic decision, with a decisive majority that affirms that the State of Palestine is qualified for full membership of the UN. The decision recommends the Security Council to positively reconsider this issue.

PUIC Secretary General: US Veto against Full Palestinian Membership in the UN Challenges International Will

On Thursday, 18 April 2024, the UN Security Council voted on a resolution granting the Palestinian state full membership in the United Nations. The resolution was voted in favour by 12 countries, abstained by two, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, and vetoed by the USA.

PUIC Secretary General Condemns the Assassination of Hamas Leader's Sons

On the day of Eid Al-Fitr (1st of Shawwal 1445 AH corresponding to 10 April 2024), the Zionist enemy committed a heinous crime in Al-Shati refugee camp in Gaza City, northern Gaza Strip, assassinating three of the sons of Ismail Haniyeh, head of the political bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), and several of his grandchildren, as they were travelling by car to visit family members and congratulate the population on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr.

Presidential Election in Senegal Conducted Peacefully and Successfully

The Republic of Senegal witnessed Presidential elections on 24 March 2024, which resulted in its first round in the victory of Mr Bassirou Diomaye Faye as the new president of Senegal. The elections were conducted in an atmosphere of calm and peace despite the fears that the country might descend into chaos.
