PUIC Secretary General H.E. Professor Dr. Mahmud Erol KILIC participated in the 36th Session of the CIS Parliamentary Assembly which held its proceedings in Saint Petersburg, Russian Federation, on 16-17 May 2011.
In the plenary session Dr. KILIC delivered a speech at the conference on Innovative Schemes for Developing Social and Ecological Spheres which was held on the sidelines of the CIS Assembly meetings.
 

The PUIC Secretary General stressed in his speech the interest shown by the Union in ecological issues, and referred to the PUIC resolutions that call for the use of clean renewable energy as well as the safe disposal of solid and liquid waste. He also underlined that these resolutions call on the United Nations to take all measures to prevent countries from dumping their waste materials in the lands of other countries.
Also on the same day in honour of Dr. Kilic Deputy Speaker of the Russian Parliament, Mr. Iliyas Umanov gave a special lunch where both sides exchanged views on recent developments in the Middle East. During his visit Dr. Kilic also was invited to the opening ceremony of "Roads of Arabia" exhibition in The Hermitage Museum sponsored by Saudi Arabian Ministry of Culture and Tourism. He also found time to visit the historical St. Petersburg’s Mosque which was built in 1903.
